1/2 cup butter (1 stick), softened
8 oz Monterey Jack Cheese, shredded
    1 1/2 cups flour
    1/2 teaspoon salt
    1/4 teaspoon oregano or basil
    1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
    Pepper to taste

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.  In medium mixing bowl, cream butter with cheese.  Stin in flour, salt, oregano, garlic powder, and pepper.

Shape dough into small logs and place in cookie press.  Press cookies onto cool ungreased cookie sheet.  Bake 10-15 minutes or until light golden brown.  Remove to cooling rack.  Serve hot or at room temperature.

    Makes approximately 5 dozen cookies.

*Do not use pre-shedded cheese.  White cheddar may be used instead of Monterey Jack.
